Artist Statement

When I paint a botanical image, I try to bring to mind all of other senses. The viewer can look at an image of a flower and consider how soft and cool the petal would feel when laid against the cheek. A painting of a banana tree with leaves torn into tatters by the wind can make one imagine a hot and humid trade wind blowing past, smelling of ripe fruit.
